VSG Recovery
I started way back last March with my first informational meeting. Finally got around to making my first appointment with Dr. Ikramuddin in July. In August I started my 6 months required NUT appointments. Had a ton of tests over the next couple of months. I have my final NUT appointment the end of this month. After all this the paperwork will be sent in to the insurance company. Aparently Dr. Ik performs surgery at Abbott on the 18th of each month. I'll miss the Feb. surgery so now it looks like it'll be March 18.
Here's my question;
For those who've had VSG, what's your experience with the initial recovery? I live alone and wonder if I'll need to find someone to help me out those first few days? Or will I be pretty much able to take care of myself from the start?

I had a VSG on Oct. 14th at Abbott. While everyone has a unique experience, physically I did not need any help after getting home. The first week - I slept a lot - just needed frequent breaks. Mentally was a different story - I had a really hard time emotionally the first 6 weeks - emotions all over the place, and coming to terms with a very different life - one that I wanted, but still needed to adjust to. We have 3 young children, 2 of whom have autism, so I had to step right back into parenting when I got home. In some ways, it helped to have distraction, and in some ways, it would have been nice to have more downtime. Good luck to you! You are wise to consider and plan for everything now!
