Complete lack of energy??

Hi All:

Just lately I have noticed that I have a complete lack of energy and a depressed mood.

I am getting enough sleep and still exercising, but it is much harder to motivate myself to get out of bed and workout in the mornings.  I feel like hibernating, and I feel sad.  I didn't get up this morning to work out, but I did walk a 5K yesterday.

I don't know that I've ever felt the effects of Seasonal Affective Disorder before, but I wonder if this is what it's like?  I also wondered about my vitamin levels and upped my iron.  How long would that take to help me feel better, if that's what this is?

I am almost 6 months out and still losing, so that's good.  But I also want to get fitter, and I can't seem to dredge up the motivation.

it sounds a bit like SAD to me. I have been feeling it too. Asked my surgeon today about it at my 1 yr follow up appt. He said it is likely the weather, season, and now that I am at goal, I need to set new and different goals to get the "high" that I would get when I was losing weight. So that is my plan, to set new goals and track my progress with those goals like I did when I was losing. btw, he said now the hard part for me comes with maintaining my weight loss.....hmmm new goal.

Hope you get through this bout of the blues. Another thought, make a gratitude list of all the good things in your life that you can be thankful about. It helped me to get out of my blue mood.

Best wishes on your success with your tool. Looks like you have made fabulous progress.

Have your B1 checked.....Thyamine......I had issues at 2-4 months out, felt drained, no energy....It ended up my B1 was very low, I had to have injections every week for 1-2 months plus take a B1 everyday....

Keep us posted....Kelly

    Vitamin D and B-12. It's a mantra...Vitamin D and B-12Vitamin D and B-12Vitamin D and B-12Vitamin D and B-12Vitamin D and B-12Vitamin D and B-12Vitamin D and B-12

I was put on 25,000 units of Vitamin a DAY for six weeks prior to surgery, and have a prescription for 4000 units a day since. Vitamin D helps replace the sunshine we are missing. The B-12 is  an energy agent.

Good thing I have my 6-month check up at the end of this month.  I will definitely have my vitamin levels checked.  It could definitely be D--I may pick up an extra D supplement.  I take the B-12 in a monthly shot and I haven't missed a shot at all.  Just had one January 3rd.

Thanks, everyone!

I am finding that my b-12 shot only carries me through three weeks not four or five. I have been lethargic the past few days so am going to take my shot a day or two early.

I echo the Vitamin D recommendations I'm 3 years out and this year especially the last month I've had all the same things just down and no energy and I've been sick with 3 cold in 2 months.  Turns out my Vitamin D was almost non existent (every other vitamin level was good) my level was at 8 and I guess if I understand correctly it should have been at 30.  Now I'm on prescription Vitamin D 55,000 IU  its only been 1 week but I already feel a little better.

I am having the same type of symptoms and am currently being treated for low blood pressure and low blood sugars.  The low blood pressure is treatable with med's and the low sugar levels are improving with adding a small amount of carb's to my diet; if the sugar levels get too low, I've been instructed to suck on a piece of regular candy.  It's weird that these symptoms rear their ugly heads +8 months after surger.  Stay strong and stay in tune with your body and your surgeon and family doctor need the updates to help keep you feeling well!  Good luck!
