St. Paul Surgeons Dr. Kelly for VSG??
Hello All,
Just wondering if anyone on here has had lap VSG surgery with Dr. Kelly? That is what I am interested in and have been to the informational meeting. I have also completed the Health Partners Change for Life calls required by HP. I have 2 more psych appts. in January and then hoping to schedule my surgery. Just wondering if anyone else has already been thru this and can be my guide???
Thanks!!
Tina

Did you ever go to the UofM, Tina? I was hoping you had gone to Dr. Buchwald or Dr. Ikrammudin for comparison.
I know the U has a support group that meets once a month and I do recall there having been VSG'ers who attend ocassionally. You do not have to have had surgery at the U to attend.
It might be a good place for you to meet some other VSG'ers though if Dr. Rupp's office doesn't facilitate a support group.
Do you also post on the OH VSG board? That might be another good reference.

Tina, You will just love Dr. Peter Kelly! He is such a great surgeon with really good bedside manners & very thorough. Both my sister & I had Dr. Kelly for our Rouxen Y Gastric bypasses & are both very happy with the work he has done to us both. As for support groups, yes, if u look in ur blue book u got at ur informational meeting, near the back, there are 3 types of support groups they offer. I have my 3 month post op check up with Dr. Kelly next week & am excited to see him. I will also then be lookin at those support groups they offer. Congrats on your PREop journey coming to an end. Now hold on for the roller coaster ride of ur life! Keep us updated & good luck!

Hi Tina
I too had Dr. Kelly. His bedside is great, I had the RYN but I can't believe he would not be as professional and an excellent surgeon -no matter which surgery. I am only 4 weeks out, I am struggling, but it is the nature of the surgery -not my docs work at this point. I had six incisions and all are healing well. And I had the surgery at United. I have to say the nursing staff were wonderful. And you know -they will have a lot to do with how you do -in the first few days of the surgery. Take care I wish you the best.
