I heard from them within a week. I dont remember exactly but I think I mailed on a Saturday and heard from them the following Wed. They called to schedule the first day of appointments which took place the following week. They look over your paperwork to make sure you qualify for WLS in their program. Not sure if you have insurance but they would may have requirements as well. I finished all the PNS requirements at the end of August, but still have to complete 6 monthly meetings with a dietitician before they can submit for insurance approval. My last appointment is Jan 31. I sent in the initial paperwork in July.
I had submitted paperwork in Sept of 2009, but I did not meet PNS qualification- they needed medical verification of my weight over the past 2 years. I had records from Jenny Craig but they needed medical records. I had not been to the Dr during 2007 so I needed to wait a year to try again.

I didn't go through the PN system, but much of what you will be going through next is divided into two areas. 1. is insurance requirements. each carrier wants to ensure you are a needy candidate and that you will also be a good long term candidate, so there are lots of hoops. I had a 6-8 weeks of call-in phone conversations, I had an insurance Doc confirm that I was able to do the surgery, and there was some paperwork for sure. Lastly I had 6 sessions with a psychologist, painful but necessary. On the Surgeon's side, I had a several contacts with the surgeons office staff getting the paperwork in motion.heart stress test, ultrasound of my liver, a full physical by my PCP and a long session with both a nurse and the surgeon.
So for me it took about six monts of work. In the end I was glad for it as I was more able to get my mind on track with what was going to be quick change to my physical body.
The time it took from completion of preliminary requirements to surgery.......5 days for the call to come in with a surgery date, surgery date within 30 days of the call. That time went really fast as I had to lose some weight to make my surgery a success. (got to get some fat off of the liver!!)

I think I was one of the more fortunate (or perhaps NEEDY?!) people - I mailed in my packet on January 17, jumped through the hoops (was with Medica at the time), and had my surgery on April 27.
It really felt like karma for me those 3+ months - I'm not even kidding. I had green lights all the way to every appointment. I had to do a sleep study - when I called in to get it scheduled, I would have had to wait for a month and a half.... UNLESS I could go in that same night, they had a cancellation! (I took it!) Every step of the way to setting my date was just smooth - BUT, I know I was probably more an exception than the rule.
Whatever it takes between PNC and your insurer, just stick with it, it's worth it.
