1 Year Surgiversary Tomorrow
How is that even possible?! It seems like no time......... and so long ago, all at once.
I started my journey at 270 lbs (5'2") and sleep apnea, and high risk from a previous heart attack, no energy and a horrible sense of self. I was feeling trapped and hopeless with no way out.
Today I am 118.5 (I could use some lean muscle, but that will be this years resolution) so just over 150 lbs lost. Sleep apnea gone, heart meds.... gone, I have tons more energy. I feel like I am a more present wife and mother. I don't worry now about my weight embarassing my sons as they start to get older and became aware of it. I feel healthy and I move well (well, for the spaz that I am!) I know for a fact that I have added years to my life.
I have met incredible people here and at coffee. Folks who maybe don't know how much their input and support really meant to me. It's like trying to talk about something like infertility to a girlfriend who is pg with her 5th child......... some folks just don't "get it". But you guys do and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for each post, e-mails, protein tip and time spent. I couldn't have done this alone.
Thank you to Kevin, my brother who had started to do the leg work on the WLS and let me jump on board with him and do the journey with him. It's nice to have a family member on my support team.
OK, I'm done rambling. Thank you for your kindness, your honestly, your willingness to share our ups and downs. I'm blessed to have you. You've helped shape me into what I am today a year later. I feel like I've won the lottery.
Now, you all stay on my ass (what's left of it) and keep me honest and on track. Happy New Year!
Tess
PS - if I knew how to post a picture, I'd do it...... anyone?
