How Long ....until I feel better?
Please if you all could share....I feel so weak. It has been 7 days since surgery...I thought somehow I would start feeling like my old self, I am 50 and realize it takes time to come back from surgery, but I just can't get over how tired I am. I only seem to have energy after I eat, but I am crashing even as I type I just want to go lie down! I try to walk for about 5 minutes after I eat, so really get my energy up, but to know avail! I am taking my vitamins, not sure (?)if I should be taking them with my water time or with food time. Maybe I am not eating enough?
Patience, grasshopper.
You just had your guts re-arranged, they're in shock. You have a ways to go before you are healed up. Yes, some people feel hunkey dorey within days, but many do not. A few even have some pretty ugly complications that require them to go back in the hospital for a few days.
You appear to be somewhere in the middle, which isn't a bad place to be. I mean, think about how much actual 'nutrition' you are putting in your body right now? NOT MUCH. Just lower your expectations a bit, keep doing the things your doctor/bariatric program have instructed you to do, and don't push yourself too hard. It will come.
For me, I felt horribly bloated and gassy for the first 10 days, and yes, tired. Not a great deal of energy/calories going in means your body needs time. It will start to use up reserves. As your tool heals, you will begin to be able to get a bit more fuel in, and you'll start to feel better.
Just have patience. It'll be worth it.

Make sure you get in as much water as possible....Dehydration will make you feel that way too....Make yourself walk, if you can as much as possible....Every plan is different, for me and my doctors plan I was eating basically soups for the 1st 2-3 weeks, then pureed for a week, then soft foods for a week....
I felt that way for 2 months, but then they found out I had a B1 Thiamine deficiency....
You may want to call your nurse and let her know......Good luck, hang in there....

I took naps for the first month or longer! When it comes back, you'll know. As others said, our bodies need rest to heal. And calories to function. I ate mashed potatoes and canned gravy, cuz hardly anything else appealed to me at first.
Take care - - on a positive note: YOU are on your way to a whole new life!!!

I'm down 120 pounds - thanks to RNY! Working on the next 25. Then I'll tackle more...

Yes, I too had a rough couple of months. I know it's not what you want to hear, but on the other hand, at least you know it's not just YOU! Then I just suddenly turned a corner one week.
Sip, sip, sip! I promise you will get there. I thought I'd maimed myself and would never get better. But you will and I promise you'll never regret it!
Be well, go slow and have faith.
