Back home ...still in pain
I had my hysterectomy last Monday. It turns out the large cyst was on my Fallopian tube, not my ovary, so they were able to remove the cyst and the uterus, and leave both ovaries.
They were able to do the surgery with the robot, so the scars are minimal. I've had a LOT of pain though. I was supposed to be released on Tuesday morning, but the dizziness, nausea and pain I had were SO bad, that I didn't get released until Friday night. I'm still taking liquid roxycodone every 4 hours just to keep the pain in check.
Saturday morning I spiked a low grade fever - between 99.9 and 100.5 all day. This lasted off and on yesterday too, and this morning I spiked a 101. Add this to the sharp pain I get when I urinate, and it looks like I need to go get checked for an infection from the catheter. Yeah!!
Then there is the large hematoma on my left thigh which is so big that you can actually see the bulge through my pants. This hasn't started to bruise yet, but I'm sure it will be beautiful!
And the last is that I hurt my arm when I was in the hospital. I was trying to push myself up in bed with my arm straight, and I got this sharp stabbing pain shooting from my elbow up. The nurse thought I hit my funny bone, and I tried to explain I didn't hit anything. Apparently they believe now that the IV that was still in my arm injured my nerve. Several times a day now I have what feels like electricity shooting up my arm. They said this should go away in a couple of weeks.
So to recapture my crappy week, my stomach hurts, my bladder hurts, my arm hurts, and my leg hurts, and despite being at an all-time low weighing in on Monday morning, I'm up 5 pounds still from the swelling and fluid! Oh crap, I sound like an 80 year old woman.
Thanks for listening to my rant,

Sorry to hear all this, but once the pain passes, you'll be THRILLED to not have those suckish monthlies anymore! I have NEVER regretting my hysterectomy, it was truly a blessing for me. It WAS hard to recover from, and I had mine open, but dang... for everything I went through leading up to it? GOOD RIDDANCE, UTERUS!
Just keep it under control with meds as best you can. Remember - 'better living through chemistry!'

Imperfect does not = unsuccessful
Nicole, Sorry to hear about all junk you are going through! I agree with Darla, you will be much happier once you can get over this bump in the road. I also have had that sharp pain/nerve issue. When I had my RNY, there were some problems and they thought they were going to have to give me blood and wanted to have a ? PIC line (two IV's in one?) and it is a procedure that has to be preformed not just a poke! Well it was not a pleasant experience to say the least..I would go through the surgery before having them do another PIC line!! All in all they hit a nerve and man I thought I was going to die!!! Then I too had the electricity shooting in my arm and it lasted about a week and it did go away. It happened when I turned it wrong or wanted to grab something...then zing!!!! Hope you do well and feel a lot better by Christmas!! Donna

Thank you all for the good wishes and prayers. It was a fun day yesterday, can you hear the sarcasm!?!? It turns out my INR is over twice what it should be, which explains that the spotting is more like a full blown period.
They did a urine sample yesterday, and after not hearing from the clinic for 24 hours, I called back today. It turns out that I do have a urinary tract infection, and so I will need to add two new antibiotics/medications to my list.
At least they know what is wrong, and can start treating on the of the pains.
OH, I had an amazing cheer up factor yesterday though. I gave my hubby his present while I was in the hospital, I bought him on of the higher end Logitech Harmony One remotes with touch screen. Last night Brett came home from gymnastics with the kids, and told me to close my eyes. He placed a package in my hands, and I assumed it was a Kindle, he knew that I wanted one. But no, even better, he had bought me a 32G iPad!! Holy crap!!
He said after all these years of putting the kids first, he wanted to give me a substantial present. I very quickly went and downloaded the free kindle app, and now I have a Kindle with attitude!
I'll keep you all posted as I heal - I hope!!
Thanks again for your thoughts and concern.
