Surgery date set, the clear liquids, baby food -purchased, new PJ's, Family is ready to run the household ...nothing really left to do but wait.  I am going through very many emotions all with-in the same hour ...even questioning "Do I really want to go through with this" ??? Family just thinks I have lost my mind.  My body wants relief.... And I worry about the staff at United...like I know they have done this millions of times...but I have had such bad experiences with United!!!!  -Kim

The surgeons and group at United are partners with my surgeons.  They are not only experienced, they are excellent.  You'll have professional staff of the highest caliber and much experience.  Focus on just getting through the next couple of days, and it will be over before you know it!  Then you can join all of us on the "losers' bench" and start your new life!  All the best to you.

I'm down 120 pounds - thanks to RNY!  Working on the next 25.  Then I'll tackle more...

We were all thinking similar to you pre-surgery. Everyone has to learn the ropes for themselves post-surgery. I have been really fortunate to have had a really good experience. Much of what goes on post surgery is 1: learning what works and feels best for your pouch and 2: getting the mind to follow the surgery. It takes awhile to have a good handle on food portions. It is all so well worth it.

At nine months out, I can tie my shoes, and walk a long distance and a myriad of other things I struggled at before. We will be thinking of you. make sure to get involved in an informal coffee group or even a hospital directed group where you can get and give support and meet new friends on the WLS trail.

Good luck!  You're going to do great and get healthy.  You will be very glad you did it.  I have not regretted it for a minute.

My family did the same thing, and asked repeatedly, "are you sure you want to do this?"  and I did!  Now almost a year out I believe I have added years on to my life.  Best decision I've ever made.   I'm sure you will feel the same way.

You'll do great. The very best of luck.  Keep thinking good positive thoughts.  So much of this is mental.  Welcome to the Loser's Bench!
