OMG! I'm totally bawling!!!!! I can't believe it..... I just got a call from my Reconstructive and Plastic Surgeon's office and HealthPartners has APPROVED BOTH my Panniculectomy AND Brachioplasty!!!!!

From what I've read on these boards, insurance almost NEVER covers arm flap removal!!!! But they are covering BOTH the arms and gut skin and I just have to pay for the upgrade to a full tummy tuck!!!!! WOWOW!!!! Waiting for her to call me back with details. That also means HP will pay for a night in the hospital. (which is a HUGE blessing since I have 3 boys under 6 at home!)   Most of you know I'm over a year out from my RNY, and have lost 120 lbs, being stable at 179-182 for the past 3 months. I thought 150 was a dreamy goal, but my doc said since I'm so tall and big framed, I should concentrate at maintaining from 170-175. I'm wearing a size 10 jeans and am happy as a clam!!! But getting all the skin chopped is just going to be icing on the cake!

YEEAAAHHH! Thank you ALL for the constant support and I just wanted to share this next milestone with the gang here!!!

Shannon, I am so happy for you!!!  I'd be doing the happy dance too!!!  Good luck to you in the process.  I wasn't even planning on any skin removal (plastic surgery) but I have lost 130 pounds and have WAY to much extra skin but I don't think I'm done losing yet.  Keep us posted.

Thanks, Donna!
I know, I just never expected there to be so much extra skin! I mean obviously after 120 lbs of fat leaving your body, I knew there would be some, but tucking my boobs into my bra and my tummy into my undies is just no fun!
My arms are another story, being in Medium shirts but having my arms look silly in them... just odd! I have some good muscles in my arms and a strong core since falling in love with kickboxing, but the doc said NOTHING but surgery will get rid of the bat wings and the terrible rashes I've suffered across my gut folds :oP
The docs office is supposed to call me back any minute with more details, so I have my fingers and toes crossed that this bonus medical care can be still performed yet this year, as my out of pocket max has nearly been met, so it would cost me very little to have the work done!
Hope you're doing well! You look GREAT!!!

That is great Shannon!  What kinds of requirements did you have to meet to get approved?  I would really like to have the stomach done and I have HP but not sure what the requirements are.

 Congrats!   What a blessing!

If you could share how you were able to get this approved when so many get denied I am sure many would appreciate hearing any information you can share.  I have not had my WLS yet (Jan 6 is my date).

Best wishes on your next journey!

WOW!!!  Congratulations!!!

I never even considered asking about my arms, but I have HP as well... maybe it would be worth asking?  I was fortunate enough to have some flubber removed from my belly in August of '09, compliments of the surgeons who had to take some masses and the rest of my female parts, and fix a big, nasty hernia.  It ain't purdy, but my belly flubber is gone!  The arms? I actually won a contest with some of my WLS friends last summer for the longest batwings.  4" from the solid part of my biceps!  I LIKE my arms when looking down at them from above, nice muscle def & such, but - the WINGS ~

I'm so happy for you!!!
