Hello Everyone,

I just wanted to say that I had my RNY surgery this past Tuesday. It's been interesting this week. I went from being an emotional wreck on Monday night, to having surgery Tuesday morning and now being post-op and just trying to get down the liquids and walking. I do have some pain, but it is manageable. One thing I am struggling on is knowing when I am full on the liquids. I've been asked to drink 1 ounce of water every 15 minutes and boy that gets tough to do...especially when they say if you get full, stop. OK, it's hard to determine if I'm full or if it's just some pain from surgery. I'm taking it as being full and will stop drinking for about one hour, maybe go for a walk and then back to it. I am starting to get annoyed with this timer that I have, with it going off every 15 minutes. I can't wait to get ride of it. :)

Does anyone here go to the support meetings at Unity or Mercy?  I am going to go to the one at Unity next week and was wondering if any of you go?

Heidi,

The 1st couple weeks are a pain.....Getting your water in is the hardest....As that timer goes off every 15 min. try to drink that 1oz. sip, sip. That 1oz. will make you full......

I love Dr. Jeff, he's the best.....I don't go to the Unity support group, I live up by St. Cloud. I'm trying to start one here....

Good luck, keep plugging along, Kelly

Thank you, Kelly!

I am working hard on everything and will keep on plugging away. I feel I am hydrated - could do a bit more, but am working on it and I'm already down 10 lbs since Monday and may surgery was on Tuesday...crazy! I actually can't wait to get back to work on Monday where I get back into my routine of walking on my breaks and now I can add walking on my lunch b/c there is no food to eat. :)

Hi Heidi!  Welcome to the Losers Bench!

I remember the first few weeks/months trying to time my liquids and then food and liquids.  Then to try and take all of the pills etc.  It seemed like I was living my day in an 15 min time slots!  And then one day I realized I just kind of learned how it worked best for me and I tweek it when I need to.  Believe it or not it will all get to be habit.

I wish you the very best of luck!  Congratulations on your new start.

It's funny you say that about the 15 minute slots - because you are so right! Today, I kind of kicked the 15 minute timer and am doing it on my own. Every day I'm getting in a bit more and that makes me feel good. Today is day 4 of post op and I'm at about 45 ounces a day.

I don't even start the vitamins until week 4 - that's going to be a treat... LOL...not!

Thanks for the wish of luck!
