Another Health Partners question

I was just on the HP website and it states it now covers VGS. Does anybody have the skinny on this?

I also have Health Partners and went to the WLS seminar at St. Paul Surgeons.  I have been doing the Healthy Living phone calls (1 left) and been to see the psych one time (3 more set up) I was told by my surgeons office that Health Partners is one of the few that do cover the VSG because that is what I want to have.  From what I have seen and read it seems to have the same results as the RNY but less invasive, no rerouting of the intestines.  I have an aunt that had the sleeve done at the Mayo and she is doing great!  I know it is different with everyone but seems like the one for me and if HP covers it all the better!!  Where are you in the process?

I have finished my calls and I am awaiting approval. I did a last minute check on the HP website and saw that it was updated this month 11/15/10 and sleeve gastrectomy was added. I was not sure, so I called HP and the claims agent said that yes, VSG is now covered. So I called my Dr. back and had them add it to the approval. With this said, I may be waiting a bit longer, but I have to have soon. WLS will not be covered by HP next year.

I called HP and with the coverage I have WLS is covered next year.  They said there are no exclusions for 2011 so it will be the same coverage I have now.  You should check with HP again on that.  I was also hoping to have this done by the end of this year but I have psych appts. now thru January so that will not happen, oh well hopefully early next year.  Good Luck with everything!!

OK, well there you go! They will not be covering it for me next year. That I know.
