ok, I know Im only 4 1/2 weeks post op. But my losing of weight has already slowed lots & I been working  out at the gym 3 days a week for the past week & half.  But to lose only 2 lbs this week, 3 lbs last week, Im getting discouraged, maybe even worried I might be doing something wrong. I eat only 1 to 1 1/2 oz of meat, cant even get to any veggie after that for a meal. For snack I eat a yogurt or a small handful of cashews or a sugar free popcycle. I know that Im about up to total of 2 ounces for a meal. Which is cutting it close for me. But still worry with the weightloss so little that I might be doing something wrong?

You are right on the right path....certainly you were told there would be plateaus?

Nope - you are doing just fine.  You will "plateau" all the way to your goal.  It's totally normal.  Start taking your measurements and don't focus so much on the scale.

No worries, all will be well.

Yep, sounds about right.  I'd lose in "patches" and sometimes even gain a lb or 2!  But it would then go down again.  Keep doing all the right things and it will just keep coming off, I promise!

There will be times that your weight loss will slow down and then the inches melt away............... TRUST me you are fine.  Keep doing what you were told and you will be just fine...........

Lori:

Your are doing the right things and many, if not most people, experience a plateau about a month out from surgery.  This may be a bit TMI, but you recently started back on solid foods and, well, your bowels are refilling.  The fat is melting away, but your body is regaining its normal functions as you recover.  The other thing I experienced is that weight loss happens in fits and starts, especially during the rapid weigh loss period.  It comforted me to take measurements even if the scale was giving up much for a week or two.  Keep on doing what you are doing and the good things that are happening with you will show up on the scale.

Good luck,

Thank you all very much for the helpful info on plateauing & for sharing your experiences. I was told about the plateau's. Just didn't think it would happen this quick after surgery & it kind of freaked me out. But I'm cool with it as long as its normal this soon. Again, thank you all for being here for us. Have a great day/nite  =)

Lori...you are right on track. You are losing inches if not weight. Start measuring yourself monthly if you haven't already.

Your body is adjusting....don't be discouraged!

You have to just "stay the course" and embrace the new lifestyle. Your body will be moving stuff around and will fight the weight loss. It is designed to do all of that. Eventually it will get the idea that you are serious and will follow. In the mean time keep your mind focused, as that is more difficult overall than the weight loss part.
This is a life-long struggle for us and it really won't get any less challenging, just more rewarding and satisfying as the successes add up. Keep coming to our gatherings, we want to a part of your success too!

Lori,

We all have been through that.....Then one week you'll be down 10 pounds....I think the body hangs onto the weight sometimes, because it doesn't understand what's going on.....Patience.....:)  Your doing fine....
