Revision from iowa, anyone else
Have finally decided I want a revision to a DS from RNY. Wanting to get the revision done by UMP Dr. Buchwald. Anyone on here had a revision from him or the office? Plus anyone had a DS surgery from Iowa at this location?
If you did have a revision there, did they make you do all the same proceedure as a first timer?
Thursday I go see the office that did my RNY because I have not seen them in over 5 years. Wanted to throw my questions at them and maybe get a head start on tests before calling Dr.Buchwalds office for an appt.
I am so ready for this show to get on the road, really hoping to get it scheduled in January.
Give me all you got, please.

The biggest thing is that I gained all my weight back and I am now starting to see things that didnt happen when I was young and fat. Feet hurt, knees hurt and make strange noises; out of breath on the stairs; and no energy what so ever. Things need to change and I need to have that push. Not really sure what didnt work for me. I think it might have been the two of us. Mostly I blame myself for not following a more active life when stress and family too first place. Another one is that I think over the past two years I have been feeling weird; extra gas, over 60 pounds in two years, strange bowl movements, lots of strange noise in the tumtum area, losts of purging with food that should not have an issue. Going to see the surgen office that did the surgery on thursday to see if it really was me or it was the RNY; we shall see. Really dont want to blame me but you never know.Am starting to see that the surgery effect everyone differently....
Kim W., do you mind sharing why you want to travel from Des Moines to Minneapolis to have surgery? My cousin lives close to Des Moines and is interested in RNY. We've talked about using only a Center of Excellence and finding qualified surgeons in the DSM area. You must have a good reason for making the trip. Can you say why?
More than happy to tell why I am going to Minn for a revision. The biggest is because there is no surgens in Iowa that will do a Revision to a DS, closes to me is Minn and I have been pretty happy with the responces that members have had with the hospital and the surgen's.
I had my RNY in Grinnell, IA back in 2004 because Mason City did not have there program running yet and Des moines was getting bad press at the time for having too many deaths. I really liked Grinnell, the surgen I have was ok, but he left the office for another state after a year out of surgery. I also lived 3 hours away from the office. I only went back a few times for checkups within the first year 1/2. I ended up graduating college and changing jobs then moving and life was hard for a bit, had no insurance and then making a big move to Des moines with a 4 year old was hard. Now things have slowed down in life and I want to get back in the swing of ME.
I would go back to Grinnell if I could to have a revision but I do not think they do a revision to a DS. I will find out more on Thrusday. Hope they let me have a upper GI on that day so I go home with really knowing what is going on in there. This last year 1/2 have been hard and weird. I would say if she hasnt already done so, check out Grinnell. They are way better certified than Desmoines WLS.
