Stuck inside a Persuasive Self
I have been asking those around me this same question or similar. What makes those that exercise regularly and consistantly do just that? What drives them?
I just posted a blog about this very thing as well in my profile.
In posing that same question above to my husband he related it to the habit/routine thing and so that is what I am doing. Instead of making impossible goals because I don't know what a realistic one would be as far as weight loss, inch loss, or strength gain, I have made it a goal to simply make it a habit.
I have been working on making other routines/habits in my life that I have never had before. I have done them consistantly for over a month now. I shine my sink every night and I make my bed every morning.
I have found where it will work best in my day to day routines and for me that is to go immediately upon awakening on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. I am currently doing the New Rules of Lifting for Women program. Today was my first day back, my first day at working on making this a routine habit.
Also, I know that planning is important to success so last night before going to bed I layed out my clothes, HRM, clipboard and updated my ipod.
This is what I will hope work for me. Baby steps and routines are working wonders in other areas of my life, I figure they should translate.
If it doesn't work, I will be continuing the search for the answer to what will drive me, what will get me to the gym consistantly, what will transform this into just a part of what I do.
Best of luck and would love to hear the ideas of things you will be trying to help this become part of your life.
