Food related HIVES!!!
Ugh, I have been down with a severely swollen face, eyes, nose, neck & chest covered in rash since saturday evening. I went to the doctor today (monday) and they feel its my body changing to the reaction to foods. In other words, a food allergy. Doctor thinks this may be due to my RNY surgery & how my body is reacting to the changes that were made. Not good! I look like a damn friggin freak!!!!!!!! I didnt need any halloween costume last nite, thats for sure! So word to the wise for newbies preparing for surgery, our bodies have to go thru lots of changes, which could include foods we NORMALLY can eat, becoming allergic to them. Unreal is all I can say!

Thanks Ronda,
Yes, Im taking Benadryl every 4 hrs & they had me pick up some Aveeno cream with oatmeal in it for the itching/burning. It looks a little better this morning. But my advice to people who just had surgery would be to be very careful as to what you are eating, so if this happens, they can pick apart what food it was that irritated them. I had NO allergies to any foods before surgery. So this was all new to me.

Lori...wow I have never heard of this before. Hope the Benedryl helps.
I know there are certain foods that don't taste the same and I can't eat it as it makes me feel sick.
I don't have hives but I have noticed since surgery that I itch a lot more all over. I just thought it was dry skin...I am always putting on lotion. My skin doesn't appear dry...maybe that is why...hmmmm allergies??? I will bring it up to my doctor.
Thanks and hugs....connie d
