I have been asked by a few people how it went....So thought I'd just post my results and thoughts here.....

Results
I lost 4 pounds
And got some restriction back
My cravings are still there though.....

My thoughts
It all comes down to willpower and Mindfullness......
I believe exercise is KEY......

I know I don't want to gain back my weight.....So I plan to keep plugging along......Getting in somekind of exercise daily and going to support group coffee's, etc....

We can do this.....Kelly

p.s. I had 2 wonderful peep's doing this with me too, maybe they will post there reults also....

Kelly....thanks for posting this. I have also done this before. It did help with the restriction but I only lost 4-5 pounds.

I need to get back on controling my portion sizes...I know they are creeping up and having more then I need.

Have a terrific day...we will keep fighting!!

Love and hugs....connie d

I'm one of the peeps who did the 5DPT with Kelly :)  Here are my results.

Lost 4 pounds
Got some restriction back
My cravings have actually gotten better.  But I think that's probably because I'm back to eating more protien than I was, and I have gotten away from the carbs.

I re-realized how time consuming all of this is - doing what I should be doing.  Keeping track 30 minutes before & 30 minutes after eating so no drinking during that time, making a conscious effort outside of those times to make sure I do drink then, and drink enough, and the right things.  (I actually use my alarm on my computer at work for this.)   Planning ahead, so I have good things available to eat and don't just grab something because I don't have anything better.  I can't just fly by the seat of my pants and expect that things will go well and I'll make good choices.

My committment to living the lifestyle I should be living after WLS has been renewed after the 5DPT, just getting back into everything I should be doing, alot of which I let slide.  I am very happy about my renewed committment.  Now I need to STAY committed. Being back on OH helps, too, because there are so many people who can relate, and who I relate to.  So thanks to everyone who posts & responds to posts.

Kelly - yes, we CAN do this!  Thanks to you and our other "peep" for doing this with me!

There are times (being a big 8 months out)...That I think the only way for me to reach goal would be to do the "Walk Across America"  There was a special book written by one that did that. I am sure the exercise would help, but mostly it would get me out of the house and 20-30 miles from my next grocery store. Plus I would have to carry any food I would eat along the way.

Then again, I digress because this is not a practical solution for any/many of us.

I think mindful eating with portion control is the only long-term way to go.

And for me some re-working of the mind/habits is in order.

Well...speakin as one of the "peeps" The 5DPT went very well for me. I thought I was gonna be shakin' and sweatin' on the couch from carb withdrawls but I was plenty prepared and had some options for those first two days...and beyond.
I lost 5 pounds and feel great!
I've been power walking 25-30min's every beautiful fall evening ever since as well, which for me is a huge step and a major missing piece to my WL journey. I've now planned ahead my meals to be yummy, good carbless protein filled goodness. And the bonus is my family who is otherwise addicted to noodles and rice is seeming to like what I'm making!! Which is making it easier.
I'm committed to eating better, snacking better/less and drinking more water in between.
I'm hoping I can lose another 12 pounds all in all.
Thank you so much Kelly and Kathy for taking this journey with me. Hopefully we can continue to share in our common daily struggles and accomplishments!
Began my journey in 2008 at 246#....lost 111#...have regaind about 35#'s of which I am currently trying to rectify!
