Carbo Courage

It's amazing how when I need a shot of courage because a situation is very difficult, that I go for the sugar surge in strawberry preserves, m&ms, you name it to get through it.  Yes, I know, this is self medicating...just like I always did before.  I'm mentioning it because I know that others struggle with it too.

Today my son - who is 3rd year Navy - leaves to go overseas for one year.  No, not Afganistan...but still one never knows with the military what will happen next.  I count my blessings - no question about it - but it tears at my heart to say good bye at 11:30 today.

I haven't turned to the Carbo Courage Monster and given in...I'm just saying that I see him this time!!  What kind of sword do you use to fight your monsters?

For those of you who pray, I would so appreciate prayers today.  For me, yes - but prayers for his wife who has to stay state side for the year while he is gone (newly weds) and for him...he is a wreck leaving her.  I pray this command post is a ton more hospitable than the one he has been at for 2 years. That is a story for another time. (He has scars on his head from the butt end of gun****ting him when he was a rookie there. From Marines, not commanders.)

Please pray a headge of protection around all of our troops and their families.

Hmmm...that's all for now.  Thank you.

I certainly do pray, often times it's faith alone that gets me through the rough patches in life.  SO, I will send one your way!

As for the Carb monster?  YAY YOU for seeing it before you reach for it!!  Give yourself a pat on the back!!!  Then remind yourself how GOOD it feels when you know you've made a positive choice for yourself and DENIED that urge!

Then, if all else fails, ask yourself - would my son want me to sabotage my weight loss efforts because I'm worried about him?

(ooh ... low blow, eh?   )

It gave me strength today to have your prayers as I sat and waited at the gate with him and his wife.  Thank you.

  Tere,

I can't even imagine what your going through.....I too think I would struggle with food cravings, etc.....So don't beat yourself up too bad....

Maybe come up with something to do for your Son, so when he gets back you have a gift for him....Your so creative....A scrapbook, etc. Keep your mind off food....

Your Son and all the other military soldiers have my prayers always.....They put there lives on hold to protect us and our country....If you want PM me his address, I'd love to send him a card once in awhile....I have another soldier that I send mail too, he loves it....

Take care, be proud, and keep busy.....Love, Kelly

It's been great having your support.  Thank you.  Today was a hard day :-(

I will def keep in mind what you wrote here...and as far as his address - I don't even know it yet!  LOL

He has a 15 hour flight to Greece before he even knows anything about what he will be assigned to.

I will say to you too...your prayers were of great value to me today.  Thank you.

Hugs for you and your son.  Your husband must be a wreck too...poor little guy so sick. :-(

Connie, thank you for these prayers.  They needed it today.  The ticket guy at the gate said later that he could tell that it was a military goodbye.  It was nice to also have his support.

I will win the victory with the Carb Monster.  The battle was not as horrible today due to seeing him ahead, but I did get "cut" by him.  That's ok...I'll heal and be stronger! LOL

God Bless You and your family
~Tere
