Carbo loco
Oy. Even when I am being "good" I still eat them. But lately, I've fallen into a way of being that is all too familiar with the pre-op girl. I love the flavor. I love the heavy feeling, but hate the sluggish feeling because it is quickly taking the place of protein. I know I would stop it if I didn't like it...so what is my issue? I'm down 95.8 lbs, but not through losing...just being carbo loco.

I'm a dork . . . when I have cravings for carby crap I either throw it out if its mine [I have come to terms with my weak will and so won't keep it to tempt me] or distract myself if its someone else's. This normally involves exercise . . . In my biggest carb cravings I go for walks . . . mostly to the Target store a mile and a half down the road [when I'm home] or to the recreation center for cardio on campus. Target is my favorite walk destination . . . it is a double plus cuz I can try on the clearance clothes [I've learned to go w/o moneys 0.~ although I had to buy a new pair of high heel boots this weekend] and remind myself why I don't need those damned carbs.
They aren't worth it . . . and they would only last a moment while my health and increasingly positive body image will last much longer. Find something else to do when the carb monster strikes :x . . . OOOR my junk [but secretly quite healthy] food choice of the month is Cocoa Roast Almonds from Emerald [from target of course]. These come out to ~3g net carbs to 6g protein in 1 serving. YUM!
Ok ..... so that was my rant . . . I'ma shush
Good luck!

HEY - thanks for that!!!! It is so true. I've heard the only good carb is WHOLE carbs (fruit and veggies, mostly). I got way carried away on carbs and now am doing the 5DPT to get myself straightened around. Like Tere, I can go to carbs in a heartbeat!
Thanks for the encouragement and ideas. I'm revved up and ready for the fight again!

Ok, you both are right. This is just yucky. Family is home for the weekend - full house!! I have to make better decisions - holidays are coming and the house will be filled again.
Isn't funny how when you are in a healthy mind set you swear to yourself that you'll never "fall" again...but then you "fall" and say "If only I could get that mind set back again!"
Check on me later...accountability, ya know!

Ok . . . so you haven't fallen, and you haven't failed. You are just under assault by an enemy that anyone who has had any form of wls is sure to have faced: the carb monster. It is a truly unique entity with different appearances and strengths for each person. I've found my way of finally vanquishing this evil and now its your turn. You need to find a way to kill it . . . be warned it has LOTS of lives, but learning to kill it the first time is half the battle.
[yes I realize how geeky this sounds 0.~]
This summer I found a power item for me that never leaves me for so much as a second. Its a small sword charm on a silver chain that I found at the renaissance fair. There were so many evils in my life that I had to find the courage and know how to defeat, carbs being one. So often we set ourselves up to feel like failures . . . you will never fall again. You are stronger then that. And one bad day doesn't equate to failure; it means that you need the courage to wake up tomorrow and do better.
The diet mentality is what kills our good intentions. Learn to love you even when you succumb to the beast which I have named your carb monster. Use your time with him to learn how to better fight him off next time.
My big thing is that carbs are gone so fast! That little piece of candy that you had to have . . . or rice crispy bar . . . or ice cream is gone in a moment that you won't remember tomorrow or the next day. Your health and new body image won't fade so fast and don't ever HAVE to fade.
Good luck . . . and remember to watch for weaknesses in your own personal monster 0.~
