Thank u all for your well wishes on my surgery. Im home, they kept me 2 days. Surgery itself went very well. I compared it to my hysterectomy in 1995, Gastric bypass was a breeze compared to my hysterectomy! I dont remember the first day at all, I never truly woke up consciously in recovery, which is nice, I came to with my parents, best friend & boyfriend at my bedside in my room. The nurses were awesome, very helpful. I had constant visiting from specialists, making sure all my needs were met. Only glitch I had was the fact my numbers went pretty high on my glucose. They did label me atleast a type 2 diabetic, I have to check my blood glucose twice a day, if it goes above 140 mark, then I have to go see my dr. Its still a little above that, but im giving my new tool a chance to work it down more. All in all,, Im home, doing good, no probs with the diet, I walk several times a day outside around my building & i was sent home on full liquids (stage 2). Im very glad I had this done & excited to see the end results. Any questions, im here for ya all! By the way, Im lookin forwards to the Burnsville coffee support group meeting, someone plz let me know when the next one is?

I was a type II diabetic prior to surgery, I was on 5 insulin shots and 3 oral meds. I am off all insulin and take 1 med twice a day. My numbers are near "normal." You will find your numbers will be under control in no time, but might go back up an later years if you caloric intake goes to what it was pre-surgery,

Welcome to the loser's bench Lori!  Glad you are doing well.  Keep sipping and walking and you will transition well.  Remember, these next few weeks will be a crazy time with emotions, that is when you remember to come here and talk to people, you are not going crazy!!!  We have all been there, it sucks, but gets better.

See you sometime at coffee.
