Dr. Ikramuddin Bowl Prep... Help?

Gaah, be glad you don't have to do the Buchwald bowel prep, lol!  HORRIBLE!  Drink a gallon of GoLytely the day before surgery and crap your guts out for hours- not fun!  I think the mag citrate is a little gentler and takes a little longer- then since you're only on clear liquids after that, you shouldn't have any more stool forming.  I'm pretty sure the 2 days is right- you should have it on paperwork somewhere, right?  If you don't already,  I think they give it to you at the pre-op class a week or two before surgery.  You'll do great, honey!

Any chance you can make Tammy's meeting on Monday?  I'd love to see you if you can!

I too am a pt of Dr. I's. His bowel prep was pretty easy, other than having a sore bum from going poo so much. Like other have said you can get the Mag Citrate just about anywhere, just ask if you don't see it. I agree drinking it cold is better too! Then by drinking clears the next 2 days, you will do a lot of peeing as well. You won't be eating anything that will have to turn into poo, so that will help and you won't be "adding more to get rid of" so to speak. Less than a month, so exciting!

I'm not really excited for the sore ass part...lol I have to be at work for the first day of my bowl prep...glorious!

Ohhhhh you will not want to be at work during the first day of prep. Seriously!

I'm also a Dr. I patient (3.5 years out). He's a good Doc and the 2 day prep is easier than drinking a gallon of Golytley. Remember to buy SF popcycles for the prep time...counts as a liquid.
