Anniversary gift
Today is my 13th wedding anniversary, although my husband and I have been together for 18 years now. When we first started dating I weighed around 180 pounds - pleasantly plump. The weight started packing on, and my hubby married me anyway. On the day of our wedding I weighed in around 235. In October of last year I was weighing in at 335 pounds.
I realized this morning that even though I couldn't afford to buy an elaborate gift for Brett for our anniversary, I had given us both a gift. It involves me losing over 110 pounds in the last year. I am happier, healthier (sort of lol), more active, and I look a lot better in clothes. Our relationship is stronger than ever, Brett is still my best friend and strongest supporter.
The gift I give us both is me, the person I used to be when we first got married. She was lost for a long time, hidden in layers of fat, drowning her sorrow and worries in grease and chocolate. I have found myself, my strength, my honesty (to myself), and I am much happier for it.
Brett's gift to me is his himself as well. He is caring, supporting, honest, and my biggest fan. He cheers with me as I fit into each size smaller, and commiserates with me when the scale bounces around.
Thanks for listening, I just wanted to share my realization that I am worth something, that my health is the best gift I could give myself and my husband.

Nicole,
That is the best gift that you could ever give anyone, including yourself.
Also, I wanted to say that it was so nice seeing you at coffee last week and it was very obvious that your husband loves you very much!
Congratulations on 13 years of marriage and congratulations on losing the weight!

What a sweet post! I think your relationship sounds so good - it is hard to weather the ups and downs of life, and having a supportive, loving partner makes a huge difference! I love the gift and I'm sure he does, too! Happy Anniversary.

I'm down 120 pounds - thanks to RNY! Working on the next 25. Then I'll tackle more...
