Pre-Op Glitch??
So my family doctor calls, says I have a high amount of glucose in my urine on my fasting pre-op physical test. She wanted me to call the surgeons office & talk to their nurse to see if my regular doc should do something more. Both my dr & the surgeons nurse feel that with this surgery (IN 4 DAYS, YEAH!) should resolve the glucose in the urine issue. But I need to clarify this with the coordinator of the surgeon's office on Monday (2 days before surgery), yet another possible glitch in getting this surgery done? Ugh! This is a little discouraging to me as I have gone thru lots in the past 2 yrs to get to this point where I am now, lots of hoops I had to jump & re-jump. So that is why I feel like this could be yet another set back with the glucose on the urine =(
Keep our fingers crossed for good news on Monday, that the surgery is a go ahead.

Thank U Julie for the phone call Saturday, sure made my day to hear from you & your helpful advice helped lots. Im keeping my chin up & feel surgery should still be a "go ahead" come the 13th of Oct. I will also be coming to the support group on some of the meetings, will make arrangements to be there. Look forward to hearing from u again & meeting u at the support group meetings. Take care

All I can say is that the lowering of my caloric intake to under 800 calories cured my diabetic tendencies. I was on 3 oral meds and 5 insulin shots a day. When I did my pre-surgery weight loss (the 800 calorie part), I started getting low blood-sugar symptoms and cut back on insulin over time to ZERO. I haven't had a shot since January and post surgery, I have worked my way down to just 1 oral diabetic med. So start getting ready for surgery and the glucose problem may resolve itself in time to go on schedule.
