Hi everyone!  I've been visiting this forum now and then for the past couple of months, and have learned so much from you all.  I'm Kammy, 43, from Eagan.  We have 3 kids - 2 that have an autism spectrum disorder, so I am currently at home managing their various therapies, etc.  Had my first appt. with Dr. Leslie in August, got insurance approval on Monday, and my surgery is scheduled for next Thursday.  Wow, things are happening so fast, and I'm excited, nervous, scared, and everything in between.  I debated between the band and the sleeve, and ultimately opted for the sleeve.  Any other sleeve folks out there?  We have a busy family life, and though I've made arrangements for help - especially the first week - I am nervous about what I'm going to feel like and what I'll be able to do.  Our kids have needs that are more significant than most, and I just will feel better the more I know going in.   Running is something that has always helped me deal with stress, and is something we have found to be successful for my 9 year-old son to keep him calm.  Even as my weight has increased, I've kept at it, and even completed a 1/2 marathon over Memorial Day weekend this year.  I'm wondering how soon others felt like exercising after surgery?  Here's hoping surgery will help increase my speed - at my current weight, my running is slower than most people walking . . . .

I have a DS so I'm a sleeve of sorts. LOL The VSG is considered the "first half" of the DS.

So, what's your BMI?

Surgery won't increase your speed, but the weight loss will as well as the increased stamina and energy you have!

Good luck.

Thank you all for your kind words!  @Lori - good luck to you next week!  @Paul - what day does this group meet?  My BMI is 40 right now - looking forward to seeing that number start to drop . . .
