New member - surgery next Thursday!
Hi everyone! I've been visiting this forum now and then for the past couple of months, and have learned so much from you all. I'm Kammy, 43, from Eagan. We have 3 kids - 2 that have an autism spectrum disorder, so I am currently at home managing their various therapies, etc. Had my first appt. with Dr. Leslie in August, got insurance approval on Monday, and my surgery is scheduled for next Thursday. Wow, things are happening so fast, and I'm excited, nervous, scared, and everything in between. I debated between the band and the sleeve, and ultimately opted for the sleeve. Any other sleeve folks out there? We have a busy family life, and though I've made arrangements for help - especially the first week - I am nervous about what I'm going to feel like and what I'll be able to do. Our kids have needs that are more significant than most, and I just will feel better the more I know going in. Running is something that has always helped me deal with stress, and is something we have found to be successful for my 9 year-old son to keep him calm. Even as my weight has increased, I've kept at it, and even completed a 1/2 marathon over Memorial Day weekend this year. I'm wondering how soon others felt like exercising after surgery? Here's hoping surgery will help increase my speed - at my current weight, my running is slower than most people walking . . . .
Hi Kammy, Congrats on ur surgery date. Mine is Oct 13th, this coming weds at United Hospital. I live in New Prague, just south of u. Im having the RNY, sorry cant help ya with sleeve info. But someone here can im sure. I wish u much luck on your surgery & recovery. Sounds like you will have your hands full with your children too. If you can get help the first week or 2, then you will do fine im sure. Good luck, keep in touch. Lori25
