Meetings in the further south of Minnesota?

Does anyone know if there are support group meetings being held further south than Eagan? I read on one gentleman's blog that he lives on the border of Minnesota & Iowa, he has checked into Iowa to see if there are any down there, there are not. So what Im wondering is if there is any like in Northfield area or futher south? I too would attend a southern Minnesota group support meeting. Any idea how to get one started for us southern people? If so, plz let me know. Thanks

Congratulations!!!  I remember how excited I was when I was having my surgery.  Don't worry too much, for lots of us, it all goes pretty smoothly.  Obviously, follow your doctor's advice (including quitting smoking...I know...I had to do the same thing, but it is important.  If you have to, tell yourself you can start again after you get home from the hospital and that you just have to quit for 9 days!).  Some good advice my doctor gave me was to "stay ahead of the pain" - meaning - take your pain meds on a schedule, as you doctor advises, because if you wait too long and the pain kicks in, it talkes longer for the meds to start working again.  And, if you take any narcotics for pain (like percocet) be sure to take a stool softener regularly to avoid some REAL unpleasantness.

I tried to approve you as a friend and do not know what happened so I will request you as my friend....I'm new to this so not quite sure how this all works yet.  Good Luck to you with your surgery....I would be so excited!!!  Can't wait til I have a date!  It will be a while but still exciting.

I meet w/ a few lap band patients in Mankato twice per month (I am the only RNY right now).  Mankato is probably just as far as some of the metro meetings for you, though.
