When did you clean out your closet?

 Hi all:

I am down 64 lbs on my journey, and the clothes I started with really don't fit anymore.  I haven't bought many new ones, but I can't really even belt up most of the old ones.  I struggle with the fear that someday I will need those big clothes again--I always did in the past.  Everytime I lost weight, I would put it back on, plus some.

So I'd like to know--when did you first purge your closet of those big clothes?  Did you wait until you were at goal?  Did you do it step-by-step, like "now I'll get rid of the clothes that are 2 sizes too big"? Or do you still have "fat clothes" hidden away somewhere as a "back-up?"

For the most part I was able to let go of my clothes but it was very hard.  I do however still have some items that are so way to big still in my closet!!  Just can't let 'em go!!  I found Swapkins in the fall and spring the best time to bring the 'to big' and get the 'ah these fit'!!!  I have not heard anything about Swapkins yet for this fall.  I hope someone will host it and post soon.  So let go of what you can because you will not need them again!!!

If they attempted to run away from me in public they were punished by being exiled for donation purposes .... Until they tried to run away they were allowed to stay in the dresser.  My "fat clothes" currently consist of 2 pairs of size 14 jeans that are up at school with me even though I fit comfortably in a 10 :)  I love my wls!

Live out loud!  How many people's lives have you touched recently?  Pay it forward

I cleared out my closet about 3 weeks after surgery. I lost 30# before surgery and by that time after surgery nothing fit. So I shopped sales and second hand stores to repopulate my closet. I have donated most items. I do have a 2x coat for someone to buy or trade. Just bought a new coat, same style in a medium. Wow. Get rid of the old stuff.....you won't be needing them. Carol

I got rid of them as soon as they were just a little big.  When you wear too big clothes, you look bigger.  I''m  lucky, my daughters are smaller than me, but not much.  1 is a 16, 1 is a 14, and 1 is a 12.  So I plan on borrowing clothes from them as I'm on my way down.  So far I've gone from a 22 down to a 16.  I'm on the first daughter's clothes.  My daughters aren't  too crazy about me getting smaller than them.  It hasn't happened yet but I am optomistic.
