Looking for a new PCP

I am considering switching primary care physicians. There is nothing wrong with my existing PCP except the fact that I always feel so rushed in his office. I am concerned that I wont have time post-op to get questions answered by him.   So, who is your PCP?? What is it specifically that you like about him/her?

After surgery you don't really see your PCC for questions related to your surgery.  It is best to ask your surgeon those questions, so I wouldn't switch doctors for that reason.  Only switch if you are uncomfortable with the rush.
I found that an internist in the same health system is better than my PCC for surgery related lab work etc.  The surgeon's office had a list that they supplied me-  so check with them to see who they would recommend.
Good luck.

My PCP is Dr. David Yehl at Fairview Eagan. He's very open when something it outside of his knowledge base and is willing to run any bloodtests I want. He spends a good amount of time with me and is quite supportive. (I changed to Dr. Yehl when my previous PCP who I loooooved but went part-time after having a baby.)

Also at Fairview Eagan is Dr. Jason Nowak. I saw him first when I was having trouble that ended up being ulcers and Dr. Yehl was unavaiable and then kept with him until I got a diagnosis from my surgeon. He is pretty knowledgeable about WLS and again is very open. He's got a great personality. I actually debated changing to him for my PCP but Dr. Yehl and I have history and he's great.

Hope that helps!
Anna
