Holy Dumping hell Batman!
OK, so I am 8 months out and down 128 lbs. I haven't touched a sweet, a cookie, cake, nothing.
I tried a couple of pieces of sugar free licorice yesterday and was sooo freaking sick for HOURS! I had severe cramping and the runs, I was ice cold and miserable and this went on for over 4 hours.............. it was horrible What would happen if I actually had eaten some sugar! ? Thank goodness I was home and not out somewhere.
I guess I won't be trying THAT again!
A very humbled nonsugar eater................. Tess

yup, that sugar alcohol is horrid - many people have a harder time with that than with regular old sugar!
Here's my philosophy. If I HAVE to have something sweet, first I reach for crystal light. If that won't do it, I might reach for a piece of fruit or a protein bar (Target's own brand are actually pretty darn good, and a good price! Fudge graham is a fave, and 14 grams of protein. Not sure on the carb content...). If THAT won't do it, then I might have a real piece of candy - chocolate, a few Hot Tamales, whatever. I find it easier to handle than the "diet" stuff. And I know that if I have more than a taste, I'll pay for it with an atomic belly ache and gas that'll knock a cow to it's knees.
You're best off not going there. But if you must, figure out what your body will tolerate. And ALWAYS practice moderation - anything more than 3 bites is usually just shoveling.
