Looking for the best Bariactric Surgeon in TwinCities or surroundings

Hello Everyone, I'm trying to help my 61 yrs. old father which is Morbidly Obese and with chronic cardiovascular health issues, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, sleep apnea, pre-diabetic, he got it.
I want to help him find the best Bariactric Surgeon anywhere in the Twin Cities, I live in California, so I'm trying to do my best to help him. I myself is a WLS pre-op patient, so I know the process, but here in CA with my health group which is different from others.
He has Medica Choice with United Healthcare Choice Plus Option/PPO as far as i'm concern they cover WLS 20% Coinsurance after satisfying and $3000 Dedectable.
Does anyone in here has this plan and can you help me understand the process in MN
Does he needs to contact his POP for a referral first? or can he contact a Bariactric Surgeon directly for info or what?

Dr. Ikramuddin at Abbott Northwestern or at the U of M. Have him sign up for an WLS education class through the Abbott Northwestern Bariatric center and they will help him get on his way to surgery. They have been very helpful to me :)

I had Dr. Jeff Baker at Unity hospital in Fridley......Of course I think he is a wonderful, caring Doctor....They have weekly info sessions for people to go meet the Doctor and hear all about the different options of surgery.....

I had Dr Paul Benn at Fairview Southdale Weight Loss Surgery office.  The whole staff is wonderful!  Dr Benn in my opinion is the best!  I had some complications and he stuck with me and helped me the entire process.  He takes his work very seriously and YOU seriously.

Call them at 952-915-8626 and they will give you the run down on exactly what steps would need to be taken.

 I think most of us feel our surgeon is the best. I, too, will be having VSG with Dr. Ikramuddin. I've only had my 1st appointment with him. I got a wonderful vibe from him. He's a leader in his field and seems to be quite well know outside of the Twin Cities area. Google him. I think you'll like what you read.
