Pissed off- people need to lay off me.
So my coworking REALLY hates the fact that I am going to have surgery and today is the final straw. Today it was..wow... since you are doing so great on the protein, why don't you just continue to do that with limited amounts of solids. Then he proceed to say " Don't you know we all have to pay for this? I'm just not going to pay when they increase all our healthcare cost". Really? Ugh people these days. I am sorry you are super skinny and can eat whatever you want and not gain an ounce. I am sorry I am unhealthy and tried every method to get it right. Sorry I want to be there for when my 2 year old daughter graduate college. I'm sorry I want to walk long distance without having pain in my back or sore feet. Why do I need to explain to someone why I want to get healthy? I had to vent...back to working now!
My first reaction to such nonsense is sarcasm. "protein and limited solids? SURE, I can do that for the rest of my life! NO PROBLEM! Care to join me?"
As for his complaint about everyone having to pay for the cost of health care? Ask him - did he know that's how car insurance works, too? So YOU are helping to insure HIS ASS?! Good grief...
The truth of the matter is - health care costs for morbidly obese people are outrageous. Diabetes - 2-4 office visits per year plus plenty of meds - IF you're lucky and can manage it without complications. WITH complications? I don't even have a CLUE how high the costs can go!
Heart disease, high BP, some cancers, joint and back issues - the on-going costs for managing THOSE types of health issues is a helluva lot higher than the cost of a surgical procedure that has the potential to ELIMINATE all of those issues from his precious health care dollar.
I had all of that pre-op. 2 oral meds and 2 different types of injectable insulin. Oral meds for my BP and cholesterol and what not. 9 in all, I believe. I'm on NOTHING but Synthroid now. Have been for 2 years. I used to meet my insurance deductible by June, meaning everything after that point was FREE to me, thanks to HIM. Now? I never even come CLOSE to reaching that deductible.
But ya know what? You can't fix stupid. You can try to educate him, but you're probably better of reserving your energy for your journey.

Imperfect does not = unsuccessful
Wow, I am sorry that there are such ignorant people in the world. It is making me want to keep my decision private. It is none of his business. However, people think that some people just want to be heavy and dont try. You are trying. i hope you can see how you are taking responsibility by doing this. Please do not lose your positive character for this guy. He is not worth the time and energy. I am cheering you on!!!

What an ASS! This is why I only told limited people before hand. Now I tell people and if they give me a negative response. I just say "Well, it's a good thing I don't feel the need for you permission or approval!" It shuts them up really fast!
Stay away from him, he's poison. We've got your back, just keep doing what you are doing.
