vicodin after wls
Has anyone else had a difference in the way their body reacts to vicodin since their RNY?
Vicodin didn't really do too much for me before surgery, not even great pain relief. But now I have a bulging disk in my neck and tylenol wasn't touching it. Doctor prescribed vicodin and I ended up having to leave work today because I was so loopy. I felt very drunk. It definitely helped with the pain but I'm so surprised about how I'm reacting. A friend who also had an RNY says she ends up splitting hers and taking smaller amounts more often because the effect goes away fast like alcohol buzzes do after surgery. However, it took 3 hours to start feeling normal again. The pain came back then too. (I thought when I felt that way last night after taking it that it was just because i was so happy to finally not hurt. LOL)
Wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience?
Thanks!
Anna

Anna,
Different medicines effect me....Vicoden didn't really effect me too bad, just felt a little tired with it.....Now if I take a Tylenol, I know I will be sleeping within a 1/2 hour, it gives me the sleepy's......
Enjoy the pain free buzz time....Just don't go to work.....Take it this weekend and by Monday you should hopefully feel better, where you only need to take it at night or when you get home and then before bed.....
Good luck.....Kelly
