If I had to do it over again, I would definitely do it different!

Express Deli and No Name Steaks in conjunction with the MN Twins helped raise money for Courage Center's 5K My Way.  So, on Saturday I did my very first ever 5K!!!

Since it was my first 5K, I decided to walk it because I wasn't quite sure what my body could/would handle!  I did end up running/jogging for part of it and completed the entire 5K in 56:42 which averages a speed of just over 3MPH!!!

I would do a few things differently however, you know like:

eat more protein before the event.  I really started to feel tired about half way through and noticed that my energy was getting low...my body wasn't tired, but my energy definitely wasn't where it was in the beginning.

Stretch more before/after the event.  I didn't feel it while I was going, but I sure did the next day and I still do today...3 days later!

Drink more water after.  After the event, we were able to do meet/greets with the Twins and get autographs.  Because of this I didn't drink as much water as I should have (because I was too busy oggling the Twins players) and paid the price that night when I went home and laid down and my muscles started spasming..ugh not fun!!

Get different shoes!  I used my really nice gym shoes that are made for both working out and going around the track, but they didn't cut it for my purposes because the front of my shins are sore!

But all in all, I am so proud of the fact that I did it, AND I completed it in UNDER an hour!  Plus it gave me some insight on what I need to do to get ready for the Relay for Life event I have coming up this Friday in Forest Lake!  I will be walking the track and doing the 5K walk there too!
