Carb coma, anyone?

Maybe it's because I haven't had them in a long time, or maybe it's because of the surgery, but I have eaten simple carbs twice now with my surgery (rice once, and a few corn chips once) and both times I have gone straight to sleep!  With the rice I ended up sleeping for 4 hours!!

Is this normal?  Does anyone else experience this?  Am I right to attribute it to the carbs?

I have experienced more hypoglycemic issues after surgery and carbs affect the blood sugar, and yeah, the sleepy time was pretty close behind the carb consumption for me.

Even if you were not diabetic before, you may possibly have hypoglycemic issues after. If you were diabetic and have your monitor, you may still want to check your sugars to see how your numbers are when this happens. Keep tabs on it.

It still happens for me now and then, but it'**** or miss and I haven't been able to pinpoint the specific food - I know it's carbs, but not sure if it's one exact food or not.

My advice is to stay away from that kind of food.....Stick to your program......It will make it a lot easier later on......

I agree with Kelly...try to stay away from those foods...in the long run you will be much happier. I
wish I never would have started on that food....UGH!!
