Body Parts Rediscovered
This week I have been using body parts that in the not too distant past were padded with the last 47 things I had eaten at McDonald’s, at cheap Chinese restaurants or while being a devout couch potato. You see, my 5 month old grandson is visiting this week and I have actually found myself volunteering, yes volunteering, to hold and comfort him when he is being his irascible, squalling little self. I have rocked him on my lap (now that I have one), held him on my bony hip, danced around the living room and I even took him for a 2 mile walk in his stroller without female supervision. It has been amazing!
As you get further out from surgery, there are fewer and fewer cir****tances when you are struck with just how much has physically changed in your life. Having a baby in the house again after more than 20 years has provided a great opportunity to appreciate those changes once again. One of the things that motivated me to consider WLS in the first place was that I wanted to be able to thoroughly enjoy my grandchildren when they happened to come along…and now I have been granted the privilege of doing so.
