My High School Class Reunion was a BLAST!
I went to my class reunion this past weekend in my hometown (Winona) - if I tell you how many years, it gives my age away. OK... it was my 40th! (YIKES!!!)
It was so fun - I've always enjoyed my classmates and have attended (and MC'ed) most of the reunions. We have them every five years - we all enjoyed each other, small class and a special time. Anyway, it was great. I wasn't worried about moving around and standing to visit with people. Michael came along for part of it and reminded me that at the one 5 years ago, I planted myself at a table most of the time instead of mingling. This was way more fun! I got lots of compliments and even got flirted with (!!) - so it was just a lot of fun.
If it weren't for WLS, I don't think I'd have had nearly the fun I did. I participated in lots of things - there were activities on Friday and Saturday. Every one of them was fun.
Then the topper was on Sunday, when Michael and I were invited to our friend's summer home on the Mississippi for brunch and a long, leisurely pontoon ride. Again, something I might have passed up, worrying about accommodations at my previous weight!
I'm so lucky and blessed to have had the surgery and to have my wonderful friends and husband!!!

What a interesting read for me! I have never attended one of my class reunions - A) with a class of 650 grads, we weren't all snuggly/cozy/ friendly, B) there have only been two or three, and C) they are usually insanely expensive (Minnetonka Sr Hi class of 1980). The one year I PLANNED to go, my daughter had a medical emergency, so that didn't work out.
This weekend there is an all-class reunion for Minnetonka grads. I know a number of people who have RSVP'd that they're going, but I'm still undecided. Why? Old tapes playing in my head. Insecurities. Wondering if there will be enough people I care to see to justify fighting the crowds. Ugh...
I think I had made a subconscious decision NOT to go, because I had forgotten all about it until your post. Maybe I should?
Either way, I'm SO GLAD you enjoyed yours, Mary!!! YAY YOU!!!

Imperfect does not = unsuccessful
I know - it's rare to have such a close class. There were only about 110 of us - Catholic school in a smaller town (Winona). We were unusually close. REALLY good people, I keep up with a number of them between reunions.

Hi Mary!
I just happened to pop into the MN forum and here you are. It sounds like you had a wonderful time at your HS reunion! It surely was a gorgeous weekend! It must be great to be so much lighter on your feet. I myself have never had the courage to attend a HS reunion. For the first 3 I was pregnant and then the last one I was too embarassed about my weight to go. I think I weighed all of about 125 lbs. in HS! Plus we had 700+ students in my graduating class. It was easy to become a minnow in that big ocean of teenagers.
Glad to hear you and Michael are well. I'm going to be away again next month so I won't see you until September most likely. I look forward to reconnecting with the folks at ANH. (Do you think you will still be attending support group? You mentioned how crowded it was last time.)

Hi Mary! It's been awhile since I've said hello!
I am so proud of you! I'm so glad that you were so at ease and happy and confident, it's a gift isn't it? I saw 15 sorority sisters this past weeekend. I am positive I'd have not gone this time last year. It's funny, they thought I hadn't changed much! Ha! They just hadn't seen me in a long time.
It reminds me that we don't get a lot of "do overs" and to miss stuff like this, you don't always get another chance. So I'm so glad that you went and had fun and enjoyed. AND got flirted with! It always is good for a gal's heart, isn't it?
Big Hugs,
Tess
