I couldn't have done this fat...
I just spent a week in the Netherlands on business. I don't want to think about how this trip would have went 7 years ago pre WLS. I had to endure two 8 hour flights in coach. I fit fine, even when I had to crawl over people to get out. I fit in the tiny bathrooms. I walked off 6 lbs. shopping and sight seeing in Amsterdam. I carried my backpack with a laptop and dragged my bag on wheels through airports and standing in line with very little sweating..(I was tired, but no more tired and hot than the rest in my party)
I took the stairs in the office building where I worked...along with the rest of the folks. I stood up in a very warm room and gave a presentation without the sweat running off my face.
Thank God for WLS. I'm tired and jetlagged and sore from carrying, but I didn't suffer anything because of my weight.

It's better to be imperfectly happy than perfectly unhappy.
I really love that at 7+ years post-op, you are still having WOW moments!
They seem much less frequent the further out we get, but it's SO COOL that you still felt and recognized the many ways your WLS success had a positive impact on this trip!
That's really awesome. I look forward to such revelations when I'm 7+ years out

Imperfect does not = unsuccessful
That is just tremendous! I'm glad you are still grateful for the surgery, too. It is a good reminder that if we keep on working the tool, our lives continue to be better. Good for you!

I'm down 120 pounds - thanks to RNY! Working on the next 25. Then I'll tackle more...

That's great! I too love that I can see that I will still be grateful yrs from now! I'm going to Italy with friends in Oct and already and so glad to be traveling with myself in a smaller size. You just gave me a whole list of reasons to add to my own! Thank you!
It sounds like you had a great time. It's so fun to make new memories. I hope you have many more!

Isn't it wonderful?
A little past a year out and I still surprise myself going places I haven't been to since surgery.. Places where I took the elevator before and now hike up the flights of stairs, or outdoor areas where I sat and volunteered to watch the kids or "stuff" while everyone else went walking or hiking or sight seeing.. Now I'm the first to say see ya! and let someone else do that!
I love it! And like you said, I still surprise myself now and then when I have to squeeze thru a space that I know won't fit me.. and I end up sliding thru with room to spare! Yippee!
Yay for us huh?
