1 Week on liquid diet! Help with protein
Okay, I've made it one full week on the liquid diet. This is really hard!! I have one more week to go on this before surgery.
The good news is that I have now lost 21 lbs since first seeing my surgeon in April. That's a plus. The bad news is that I am really having trouble with the various proteins. I can't find a protein that doesn't make me nauseous. Ideas?
Its hard to toss out ideas without knowing what you've already tried. I LOVE regular Chocolate Slim-Fast. When I get to my liquid pre-op I will be drinking that. It may be making you feel crummy tho...I don't know. Chicken or beef broth/stock is an excellent source of protein as well just make sure to get low sodium kind.

I love the UNJURY unflavored and the Click Bananna and Orange.....
I use the protein powder, 1/2 c. milk, flavored yogurt, frozen fruit.....Makes a world of difference....
Good luck, Kelly

The hardest part of the LD for me was the fact that pretty much ALL of the liquid protein drinks are SWEET. Chocolate, strawberry, vanilla, cappucino, blah, blah, blah. It gets nauseating in a hurry!
Might be too late for you with only one week to go, but Unjury Chicken broth was a GOD SEND to me - satisfied my need for something salty, and was FULL of protein! If there is any such thing available at GNC, you might try that?
GOOD LUCK! YOU'RE ALMOST THERE!!!

Imperfect does not = unsuccessful
Thanks for the suggestions.
I have the Chike banana creme, but it's no better than any of the other protein powders. They are all reasonably tolerable in pudding, but I can taste them in smoothies, and they make the smoothies (almost) undrinkable.
I tried the Isopure clear protein drink from GNC and that was the worst. It tasted okay, then made me really nauseous. I don't know if it was because my stomach was otherwise empty, but that's the case most of the time right now. :-)
Someone suggested something called Nectar. It seems very expensive--has anyone tried it? is it worth the cost? I'll pay it if it will taste better, but I don't want to sink a lot of money in something that will be just as bad. But I'm definitely not getting enough protein!!
