Celebrate! The IV therapy is finally over!
I am officially 16 weeks post-surgery, 14 of which I've had IV therapy. I've lost hours of time at work to sitting in the hospital's outpatient IV (3 hours at a time, 2-3 days per week). For the last 6 weeks I've been administering my own IV's through my 2nd PICC line (the home care nurses pulled the first one out too far).
That is 6 bags of fluid (15 pounds of fluid to be exact) every week for 14 weeks! My weight loss was slow the last couple of months (less than 10 pounds), and last month it stopped pretty much altogether.
I finally got ok'd to start exercising a week or so ago after being told to stop for 4 weeks! The nausea is almost non-existent now, although I do have my bad days.
I can finally get in around 44 ounces of fluid, and as long as I don't have a setback this week, they should take the PICC out around July 5th.
Today is the first day in over three months that I don't need to do fluids, and you can't believe how happy I am!! Hopefully some weight will start to come off now. Cross your fingers, because after all this time, I'm extremely frustrated with the lack of losing.
I just wanted to share good news for once!
