Please send good thoughts
15 months ago I had my surgery and I kind of went in with a negative attitude. I remember wondering if I was doing the right thing right up until I fell asleep on the table and then I knew I hadn't after I woke up in incredible pain. Of course, I've changed my mind and my life. Like many others, I just started a new position at work that I never would have done before this. My oldest son has watched these changes over the last 15 months and decided on his own to follow the same path. He has jumped through all the hoops, backed off for a while and then proceeded on. His surgery is tomorrow morning at HCMC. I'm way more nervous for him than I ever was for myself. He is a wonderful young man (33 yrs. old). He's a fireman and a cop and he's been in 12 weddings....tons of friends. He's never had a girlfriend and would love to have a family. Please send good thoughts and prayers for a successful surgery so that he can llive the full life he so richly deserves. Thanks everyone!

Good for him! I may be a bit late with my response, but I will send up a prayer that his surgery is smooth and uneventful, and that he will soon enjoy the benefits that come with the weight loss - A healthier, hopefully happier life! Self esteem enough to feel worth of everything that comes his way as a result of the weight loss. He's fortunate to have you to lean on throughout this journey!
Imperfect does not = unsuccessful
I will be thinking of your son today & throughout his recovery Karen. I know you were hoping he would make this choice & it is good that he came to the decision when it was right for him. How exciting for him! You will have to keep me posted on his recovery & how he's doing...bring him along to a coffee so I can meet him, he'd love the group!!
All the best to him - and to YOU! You have been a good inspiration to him. And the kind of work he does, he's an inspiration to others too. It will be easier for him to be successful at work with his new healthy self. Thanks for posting and I'll keep you both in my thoughts today.
By now he's probably out of surgery, so he can begin this new way of life. He sounds like a very popular guy - with 12 friends that think so highly of him, they had him in their weddings! God bless him (and you!).

I was just getting caught up on the local msg board and came across your post. I see you had Dr. Pierce...I am going through the process at Fairview and still deciding on which surgeon. They all seem to great there. The other place I was considering was HCMC. Anyway, I read your post and am a little late to say good luck on the surgery, but thought I'd write and see how he's doing. I am an analyst for a law enforcement agency, so have a great deal of respect for police officers! I hope he is doing well. And I hope you are still doing well in your recovery!
