Revision surgeons?

Does anyone know what surgeons do revisions? I had lap RNY last year and want to revise to a sleeve gastrectomy.  Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks!

Dr. Henry Buchwald at the UofM Physicians!!! He's a revision God, especially taking down RNY's and revising to sleeves or Duodenal Switches.

Telephone: 612-626-6666 to schedule an appointment.

Dr Buchwald would be my first choice for ANY revision. You'll have to have your RnY taken completely down to get the sleeve, because you need your pylorus back in the equation for the sleeve, so you're likely going to have to have open if you're going to stick in MN. Dr Ikrummudin at the UofM does surgery lap, but he's not as experienced in taking down an RnY/doing revisions. Even if he agreed to do it, I think he'd require open, also. Dr Buchwald has the most experience with revisions, so that's where I'd head.

Can I ask why. You have lost more than 88 pounds. It seens to me that you are doing great.
Why on earth would you mess with something that is working?.

Thanks everyone.

I'm not meeting my goals.  I've only lost 44% of my excess body weight and should have lost 75% or more by now.  I'm disappointed with the results.  30 lbs of the weight loss was before I even had surgery.  I'm just unhappy with the procedure I chose.

Just as an FYI, it's unlikely insurance will pay for a revision, for two reasons. You probably don't qualify for WLS anymore, since you don't have 100lbs to lose, and the VSG generally isn't covered by most insurance companies anyway (some do, but many don't). If you're going to pay cash, and are willing to travel, I'd go with Ungson in MX or go Baltasar in Brazil - both cheaper than cash for here, and both excellent revision surgeons.

I am wondering why you want to get rid of malabsorption.  A sleeve often has the same or bigger capacity than a RNY pouch, so I'd worry about regain.  Not attacking, just wondering why you want a sleeve.
