Cottage Cheese!

OMG the stuff is sooo good!!! Where has it been all my life?!?!?!??!?

Am I allowed to eat it after surgery?? The protein content is pretty high, but so is the fat?

Thanks!

Leigh

yes you are able to eat that post-op
with the DS there is nothing you really can't eat....

certain things affect me differently (in that they can cause gas) but I have found it's the same things that caused me gas pre-op....so I've not really had to change up my diet much
EXCEPT
PROTEIN FIRST! Which is a good rule for all WLS types!

Once you've eaten your required protein, you'll find you don't have that much room left for the "fun stuff" LOL BUT there is room for some and yes, you can have it :)

PS: I cannot eat cottage cheese so more power to ya LOLOL

There is low fat or fat free cottage cheese too.  Still pretty good for protein but less fat.

Cottage cheese is good for you with the DS.  Good protein.  I ate it a lot for the first month after surgery and can't stand it now though.  Your tastes may and probably will change after surgery..  Full fat is usually better for us with the DS being that low fat and fat free have more sugar (CARBS) in them than full fat versions. Just remember that DS'ers typically absorb about 20% percent of our fat intake, 50% of our protein, 60% of complex carbs, and 100% of simple carbs (sugars)

I eat the 4% cottage cheese all the time. Love it! Plus, as a DS'er, you'll need the fat and Jeff gave you the stats on that, so eat it up baby!

Also, not sure if you found the flavored one's yet, but the chive one is pretty great as a "dip". For some reason, I went through a salt craving after surgery and this one with a few carrots really knocked it out of the park in a good way!

I didn't like cottage cheese until I accidentally dropped a spoonful of roasted sunflower seeds into it.  Its smoky, nutty, AND crunchy!  Adding the seeds nearly doubles the protein in it and for me thats a great solution for my breakfast.  Hope you find lots of great ways to get that protein in!

That's an interesting idea!  I'm not a cottage cheese fan, but putting the nuts in it sounds really good.
