Hi all!  More questions for my Minnesota people!

Do any of you wear medical alert bracelets?  What do you have engraved on them?
I hear a lot of talk of PB2..what is it?
From reading the boards it sounds like everyone lives on protein powders and SF syrups.  What do you all use?
Any recommendations on vitamins?

That's it for now! Thank you for the answers and I am sure more will follow!

Hi!

I don't wear a bracelet.

PB2 is a powdered peanut butter - it is good to flavor, but as a reconstituted pb, not so much.  I bought a bunch of it about a year ago and still have a bunch left.  The kids use it to make ice cream shakes - LOL

I don't drink protein powders - can't do it ever since the 10 day LD before surgery.  My one exception is I do drink Click - espresso protein drink in place of my morning coffee.   I eat normal food the rest of the day.  My food for today:

Click
milk
cheese stick
a few triscuits

2 hard boiled eggs
a few pretzels
carrots
cranberry almond thins (like super thin sliced biscotti - one bag is 100 cal)

PB zone bar (before going to the gym)

grilled chicken
apple
2 carmels

This comes to about 1200 calories

Plus I did an hour step class at the YMCA.

I take centrum, vit D (tablet, no gels!), Calcium citrate, B12, Iron and vit C every day.

I do not wear a medical alert bracelet because I do not have a man-made pouch, nor do I have a life-threatening disease such as diabetes, epilepsy, etc.

 PB2 = answer by ajordan & she's right on.

Protein powders and SF syrups? Between that and the PB2, I bet you've found your way over to Eggface's website. Just a guess.

I do not use protein powders unless I'm really dragging on protein, but honestly, the last time I had one was about 2 months ago and I choked down a grape bullet because I was flying and I needed a quick protein fix before the flight. Haven't had any since. I do really well eating protein-rich foods and my teeth need to chew, so I tend to like this approach more.

Vitamins = I order from VitaLady and follow her recommendations because she's smart and my labs look great.

 Best wishes to you!

I agree on Vitalady.  She is a long long term post-op who has a vitamin business and really knows her stuff.  I follow her recommendations as well and my labs are great 7 years post-op.  I either order from her (vitalady.com) or from Iherb.com.  Both companies are very reliable.

Hi Laura,

To answer your ??? about the SF syrups...basically, I'm cheap! (LOL) I prefer to drink my breakfast many days and I get low on my protein sometimes, so I use the protein powders and syrups for my morning shake or to flavor and beef up my coffee. (Tastes almost as good as the cooffee shops!!!  (Oh & I LOVE Click.)

I do eat regular food every day and only drink protein or eat a Greek yogurt for breakfast. I rarely ever use any other type of protein supplements and ALWAYS take my vits and mins.

Oh and the PB2 works in shakes and as a PB dip maker for my grandkids. I guess it would be good if I baked more, but I don't eat it so I don't make it. And If I did bake I probably would eat, and that could be BAD.

As for the bracelet - never have worn one...6+ years post-op.
