I had to see my PCP Doctor today to answer some non WLS questions (rash, weak back etc.) He did my pre-surgery evaluation in late January so this was about 4 months later.
He was both amazed and pleased for what my WLS has done for my vitals. BP 101/60 down from 140/91,  A1c 5.7 vs 8.7,  weight down -120# since 1 year ago. I was pleased too because I had been slowly weaning myself from insulin, 3 diabetic oral meds, and BP medications.  Hey, it has been a long time since a doctor was this positive about my long-term health!
My results are not only better than last year, but they are so without the medications too. I still have a long way to go, but because Rickpete is 23 months out and still on track to being even healthier, I think following RickPete's example is a good goal for me. I actually dusted off 11 years of dust  from the old bike.

For me, prheitz, it is all about health!   Good for you for having those results.  It's exciting, isn't it?   You just keep going and getting better and better!  Hope to be on a bike again myself someday.

Congrats on a fantastic visit with your PCP today! And nice progress - keep it up.

As for the bike, I thought last summer was great after about 100 pound loss, but to be honest, this year has been even better! In the past 3 days, I've gone over 25 miles on mine and never once got winded except when I wanted to and did some hills and off-road riding. How refreshing to be in charge of that! So, keep pedaling - every day gets better. Um, well, except when you lose your tush and you no longer have that extra padding we once took for granted...LOL.

Best to you.
