Sober Cab???!!!!

OK - just wondering if......

After your surgery, if your friends ask you out, then state they like having you along more now because you are the SOBER CAB!

Sorry, I was married to an alcoholic for 11 years and I played the sober cab game the whole time.  It got old fast and I did not like being around the drunks. 

Now, they just ASSUME that this is how I want to spend my night.!!  I would not have a problem, if the ASKED me, but do not assume that this is why I am going out with you. 

Has this happened to anyone else?  Does it get any easier? I am in no way tempted to drink, that is not even the issue.  I just want to be asked along because they want me there, not so that I can get them home safely, ya know.!!

Kelly....you need to tell them exactly what you posted here. They shouldn't just assume anything. I can see why you are frustrated. Don't do what you don't want to do....new you...new rules!!

I agree with Connie New YOU new rules........ Go with, but tell them they need to have a plan on how they are getting home and it is not you taking them......... Don't let them, or anyone else use you...... May sound harsh but better to take control now rather than let it go on.............Good luck sweetie.........

Don't let them assume you will be the sober cab all the time.....

Be honest with them, if there true friends they will be fine with it....

 Yep!  I hate it too.  Just tell them.

This is where my evil side would have to come out LOL
I would go to the bar with them, sit around a bit and then get up and say... Well I guess it is time for me to go. They might pitch a fit or they may just go home, knowing your the ride. I am betting that pitch a fit will be first. Then you can chime in with the "well you should never assume card etc... See I told you I am evil.
