I hate eating!

I'm 5 months out.  So I am free to "walk around the cabin".

I throw up left and right from food that I try after craving, it gets half way down and up it comes.  I am sick of it and almost don't want to eat cuz I'm bored with the food I've been eating, want to have spices and yummy things, but ...

Oh, and then the greedy eating.  Yah.  I have a bite that is sooo yummy, and then eat the rest too quickly and....up I run to the porcelain god.

Oh, and then there is what I did on mother's day.  I ate my meal fine, didn't like it, had dessert - liked it, had a spoon more of strawberries....puked again.

This has got to be bad for me.  I know I pee my pants a lot from it and I'm sure tired of the pain throwing up causes.

Anyone else doing this stupid stuff?  Oy yoy.

I am almost four years post op and I have NEVER thrown up since surgery-  not even once.  My surgeon told me to think of foods I shouldn't eat as posion....she scared the h*ll out of me.  I have been uncomfortable from over eatting but I respect my pouch and hate to feel nausea so- have never gotten to that point.
I'm not perfect, I eat food I am not suppose to have.... sometimes every day but I find your message to be alarming on many levels. I think that you might need a long talk with your doctor, you must be eating foods that you can't tolerate.  Good luck to you.

Just my opinion .....I think you need to contact your doctor. You shouldn't be throwing up all the time. Maybe speaking with the nutrionist would help too. Now is the time to get back on track with healthy eating.

You could be eating too fast and too much at only 5 months out. This will cause pain and throwing up.

Good Luck!!!

This is not normal....Call your doctor....

Start logging everything you eat, check off what makes you sick, so you know not to eat that again.....

Saefood is very high in protein and fish, tuna.....Do you like these? If so try eating them.....

Are you eating protein 1st? Not drinking with meals or after?

Hugs and good luck....Kelly

It took me a long time of trial and error to find the foods that were good and I could do and those that were trouble items. I had to learn when and how to eat the trouble items. Such as strawberries, as a cap at the end of the meal they typically cause me problems unless I ate the meal extremely slowly. Same with yogurt, it didn't make a good cap at the end of a meal. It took a really long time to find a way to prepare chicken to where I could finally eat a whole split chicken breast. The slower you eat the easier it will be to listen to your body.

I also agree with PP's, get in to see your doctor.

There were MANY foods I couldn't eat until at least 6 mons post op.. simply because of texture. I had to make sure everything was SUPER moist... I had an extremely hard time with chicken... Instant pukers...

It sounds to me like you're either overstuffing, or eating too fast.. they are kind of hand in hand. if you eat to fast you can puke, but also if you eat too fast you can overstuff the pouch to fast and it will yell at you and make you puke...

However, the other foods you are talking about shouldn't be making you puke. I used all kinds of spices and flavorings to foods even right after surgery.. I had no problem tolerating any of those.

If I eat too fast I can still puke... that's a huge key for me to keep in mind while I eat.

Are you eating too much at once? Too big of bites? Too fast? Total serving too much?

I'd definitely call your WLS office... something doesn't sound right. You should not be puking like that.

As all of you have suggested to do, I have placed a call into my dietician.  I have not heard back, but will look forward to discussing this waywardness with them.

Thank you for your concern!!  I'm hoping to wrangle this unruly animal with skill and ease.  Nip 'er at the bud, as some say.

Bless you all!

Tere - also make sure that you eat often enough. Even if it's 1 or 2 bites of something, like cottage cheese or a slice of deli meat or something. If you get too hungry, you will eat too quickly - I can just about guarantee it 'cuz I know I do that, too.

Not sure if you can take Pepto chewables, but those worked for me (I had a DS though so just be sure to check w/ a RNY person about the Pepto first). I'd take one about 15 - 30 minutes before I'd eat a "meal" and then eat slowly and I'd do really good with keeping my food down. I was closer to 2 months out when I was doing this, but it might work for you.

And if it seems like it's coming from another source, be your own best advocate and get checked for a stricture!

Oh and I forgot to add, maybe consider an appointment with Dr Wiita instead of your nutritionist.  Dr Wiita is wonderful and can help you, that's what she's there for.  Your six month appointment should be coming up soon, so talk with her.
