My Mom is 95 pounds SOAKING WET  and she still has FAT days. This one is difficult to escape...especially when you have lost a lot of weight and have excess skin. Bumps, bulges and rolls that you have to disguise, and jeans feeling tight, no matter the smaller size, mess with our heads!

We just need to find ways to refocus our thoughts and actions on positive things. Yay you for the great WOW moment!

Kelly,
What a great incentive to keep going is right. Others can see the new us sometimes more often than we can or remember to.

I know how you feel about gaining some weight back two years out. I two will be two years out in 2-weeks and have gained from my very lowest last summer, at least 5#'s...somedays the scale says more...evil scale. But mostly its how my clothes from last summer are fitting me now. Not at ALL pleased about it. One pair of the same size fits me and another does not. Argh! I know I plateaued last summer and I suppose my body has just been "adjusting" ever since...much like yours is probably doing now too. A size 8 is nothing to be ashamed of...that's amazing in most peoples eyes.

Be proud of your accomplishments and just as you said just do all that you can do. Day by day!
Began my journey in 2008 at 246#....lost 111#...have regaind about 35#'s of which I am currently trying to rectify!

At the WLS seminar I just attended in Crosby, the surgeon said up front that the typical occurance is to lose the weight to your lowest weight ever as an adult. Then slowly gain back up to twenty pounds. And that twenty pound gain is normal, common, and nothing to worry about. He said that the only people who seem to stay at their lowest and do not gain that twenty pounds back are those *****ally are faithful about working out five out of seven days a week.

Since that seminar (last week) I have filled out the paperwork and started the process for the surgery myself. I'm TERRIFIED! Are you happy you had it? What are the trade-offs? Has it increased the quality of your life or do you still miss certain things? I picture myself on a vacation somewhere, eating like a mouse and feeling like everybody is watching me chew my food into mush, and then on top of this, worry about it getting stuck anyway, or having the dumping syndrome happen. These are a few of my nightmare scenarios, and then of course, I'm afraid of being sick all the time. I'm looking for someone who has had the surgery two or more years ago, who can be realistic with me and tell me exactly what it's like. And whether they feel it was worth all the work and pain.

Congratulations on your proud moment. I'm really proud of you too for taking the step, and working it so well!! It took courage and hard work.
