What are your exercise ambitions for the summer?

What do you hope to go out and do this summer that you maybe haven't done before or just want to do for exercise?

Hiking is HUGE here because of the mountains so I want to start hiking. I am also going to try to buy some rollerblades so I can rollerblade on the paths here.

I hope to get out and go Kayaking!! We have two kayaks but last summer I didn't really fit in it, at lease comfortably. This summer will be a different story. Anyone want to go kayaking?!?!?

My summer exercise goals include my children and so one thing we've decided as a family to do is take up geocaching. This will provide outdoor exercise in a fun way as we search & find!

Another one is to continue my hula hooping and work up to 10 minutes per session. My kids will actually do this with me, but they can only go for about a minute or two but boy are they fierce competitors! I love it!!!

And a typical favorite of our family is biking and we already bought the county park pass for our area because they have fantastic trails & playground's, so hoping to get many days in on the bikes as well.

I have also been considering running my first 5k, but I've got a little work to do yet before I can accomplish that one so we will see if I make it this summer or not.

Walk.... Walk.... Walk.... Walk some more.... keep walking... walk for a few more miles.... walk some more.... Doing the MS Walk in my town.... Doing the breast cancer 3 day walk in the twin cities.... walk some more... I figure I should have over 500 miles in by the end of summer... then I will just keep on walking so I am ready to do it all again next year!

Elena:

I plan to keep walking and biking...hopefully 15+ miles per week walking and 50 + miles per week biking.  I have already been doing that this spring.  My biggest fitness goal this year is to be able to ride my bike 100 miles in a day during the week I turn 50 (next month).  I also have high hopes of doing a weekend backpacking trip on tthe Superior Hiking Trail and a Boundary Waters canoe trip this summer, but I don't have any specific plans in place for either of those trips just yet.  It sounds like you are making the most of your time overseas in terms of managing your health and enjoying life.   Way to go!!

I am walking approx 3 miles a day to and from and inbetween my bus routes and with my lunch time walk..

So my goal is to get in another 30-60 mins daily with the dog (she's a lil chunky from the winter too) to get her buns moving too and she's just another motivating factor!

Well I KNOW I'll be doing more walking with the poopies, but Bailey and I would both LOVE to do some horseback riding!  Doesn't sound like exercise, but a person does get a bit of a workout - I just hope we can find a stable that doesn't cost an arm and a leg!

Horseback riding is an EXCELLENT workout!  Posting the trot burns as many calories as singles tennis.

I am so looking forward to losing weight so I can ride again.  Of course, I have sold my horse, so I'll have to ride my daughter's crazy horse--I may be falling, not riding.

I can't really walk right now due to knee problems--can't wait to lose enough weight to do that comfortably.  What exercise did you all do before surgery?  I can only ride an exercise bike right now, it seems like.  Anybody have a Wii?
