Hey Kelly!!

I found out when this happened to me I wasn't eating enough. Sometimes it was during exercise but it usually would happen the next morning. I have to realize if I am buring 1000 calories in a spinning class that some of those need to be put back in my body to be able
to function since I only eat about 1200 calories a day. and remember, if your body thinks your in starvation mode, its going to hold onto everything!! I think at 2 years out 1/2 c cottage cheese in the morning isn't enough. I added a few pieces of ham and a few almonds for extra protein and its made a tremendous difference!!

Hi Kelly:

This has been happening to me too.  My doc thinks it is reactive hypoglycemia - my sugars were dropping pretty low and I was having the same symptoms as you.  She said it is our body's way of telling us it doesn't like what we are eating.  If it does happen, I drink or eat some protein to stabilize and eat a few crackers or a simple carb to quickly bring up the sugar level.  I know it is a not a nice feeling and it has forced me to watch the carbs I am eating.

Hope this helps.  Good thing you are going to talk to your MD about it.

I've had it too!  Usually at night, when I haven't had enough to eat and drink.  I get really light headed, feel like I'm going to faint.  Get kind of a tunnel vision and then I get ice cold.  Scared the crap out of me the first few times because I didn't know what it was.

The WLS Clinic told me to eat a protein with a complex carb.  So a cracker with peanut butter or I usually eat a couple crackers with cheese and it helps.  It's scary, I don't like it either.  I'm sorry you've had to deal with it.  Now that I know what works for me I'm more at ease with it.

I'll be interested in hearing what they tell you.  Good luck!  Isn't this just a tight rope walk most of the time?  Worth it, but anyone who says this is the easy way out, I just want to smack them!

Hey Kelly,
Hope your feeling better!

I am having issues with Reactive Hypoglycemia.

Last week I was in class and it hit me fast, I was by a chair and quickly sat down. I tried to recompose myself so the students wouldn't think I was a freak LOL

It kept on going and I finally said to one student if he would hand me my computer bag and folder, which were to far for me to get to at that point. He was nice and never said a word.

I grabbed my almonds out of my bag and started munching. I had the dizzy feeling, shakes, weak, and HOT. This was quickly followed with the feeling of my clothing feeling wet. Then I went cold.

The nuts helped a lot, I was able to just sit there and do some needed work on a computer and it passed. I had another staff member walk behind me to tell me if my clothes were wet! She said I was fine LOL

My foods are not staying in my system long enough or I am not eating enough to last, which ever it may be... it sucks!!

Just when we think we have figured it all out, they change our questions- Murphy's law

Take care
Kelly/tink
