It really varies person to person.....But usually till about 9 months out.

Now I'm over 2 years out and noticed my hair falling out again, I believe it is from not getting in enough protein.....So I'm eating more protein....

The vitamin Biotin helped me, and I still take it today....

Good luck, kelly

It varies, but can last for a couple months, or much longer.  It sucks, it was the one thing I feared most because my hair was already really thin from thyroid issues.

Be SURE you get plenty of protein in your diet.  Some take Biotin.  Some use Nioxin hair products.  I do it all.  Thing is, you really won't know if it's working or not unless you STOP and suddenly have increased hair loss!  Have I tested things to see if it's really helping?  HECK NO!  I'm just assuming it is, it sure isn't hurting anything!

I also came to believe that when I was seeing more hair stuck to the "product" in my hands, it was a GOOD thing!  A sign I'm losing again!  Because when you're in a stall or a plateau, the hair loss DOES seem to slow down!  Always look for the positive.

And when my hair DID start growing back in, it came in CURLY!  Used to be wavy, or maybe slightly kinky, but now it could pass for a perm!  Not sure how I feel about that yet, but I work with it

I'm in the midst of it too.  I sure hope it ends sometime soon cuz' it kills me everytime I take a shower, to see all the hair by the drain.  I swear I feel like I could make a Barbie doll after every shower I take, with all the hair I'm losing.  LoL!    Mine started falling out a 2 1/2 months & I'm almost 5 months out now & it's still falling out.  I went from having thick hair to pretty thin hair now.  I've been in to have it cut a couple times now, to make sure it looks as full as possible.  No bald spots or anything (thank goodness) but it's definitely noticeable to me how much thinner it is.  I can't wait for this stage of things to be over!!!

I'm right there with you!  I had surgery the day before you and in the last 3 weeks have really noticed a significant loss.  It's sad but worth it!

I was really worried about this, since I have thin, fine hair to begin with.  I use Nioxin products and am VERY careful to count protein grams daily and supplement with protein bars, shakes, or carnation instant breakfast every day as needed.  I don't think I'm losing any hair yet - none in the drain after washing it and it doesn't seem any different.  Now, mind you, I'm not losing at the rapid weight some do (Sept 30, 2009 surgery, 99 down), BUT I lose every week, so I think I would see it by now, since I'm past 6 months.  Maybe I'm going to luck out on it.

Hope yours comes back quick - I think making sure you're getting protein is key.  Good luck!
