Heartburn

I am almost out a year and a half. Been doing ok with the RNY, have some other health issues though.
 I have had heart burn now pretty constant for about a week, before that off and on for a few weeks.
 Now I am a lil worried, not sure if I should be or not.
I have been taking a lot of narcotics for pain for my other problems. Im wondering if the pain meds could be causing me to get sick? I take percocet.
 I also am looking for something I can take for the heart burn, I have tried tums, and rolaids, and a lil pepto. So far they arent working. Any advice would be great!

I would definitely ask your weight loss surgeon or your primary on what meds would work best to help with your heartburn, but after surgery I was prescribed Zyantec (sp?) from my weight loss surgeon to take daily and had no problems with it.  You can also get this over the counter too (which I did get after that 1st prescription ran out).  I, like you, take the same pain med (as needed) for migraines & arthritis pain in my back and so far I haven't found that it has caused me any heartburn.  It definitely makes me constipated, so I have to be sure to be pro-active about taking stool softeners & sometimes laxatives to make sure I go to the bathroom on a regular basis.

But, I would definitely talk with your doctor & let them know that since you've begun taking the pain meds you've been experiencing the heartburn & see what they suggest you take to help that.  Hope you find some relief from it soon!

Sounds like it could possibly be an ulcer. Call your Dr. They may prescribe Prevacid for you.

 Call your Dr.  Short term, Pepcid complete is a "right now" doesn't have to build up in your system type of relief.................. and it's chewable.

Well I called. They didnt seem very concerned. I am going to go in on Thursday late afternoon. In the mean time I went and got a chewable something from my mom, an overthe counter. Prevacid I think? It is taking the edge off, but again the HB isnt gone. I hope its not an ulcer. As weird as this may sound, it feels like its starting below my pouch.. As a pressure maybe? I cant explain it..
