Culprit of lower stomach pain revealed

I finally heard back from my doc yesterday evening & let me know that I have a large ovarian cyst on my left side (which is bigger than my actual ovary).  This is probably leading to a lot of my discomfort.  These cysts are 'supposed' to dissipate on their own, but if it continues to cause me a lot of discomfot then I need to go in for a pelvic ultrasound.  I'm also hoping it doesn't burst, since I had a cyst do that a couple years back & boy, was that some BAD pain!

The scan also showed I am impacted (really constipated) so I need to take care of that as well.  I went to the store & bought a bunch of stuff last night to try & get things rolling, so I get to have a "poopy party" when I get off work today (TMI, I know, LoL!).

I know how you feel about the ovarian cyst.  Mine is twice the size of my ovary, and causes quite a bit of discomfort, especially when ovulating.  Mine's been around for 7+ years, which is why I have to have it surgically removed (ovary and all) when I lose all my weight (next March or so).

Sorry about the um, plugged up issue.  I hope you can resolve the problem at your party tonight.

Good luck with the pain, hope you can keep it under control.

Just thought I'd mention that since surgery I've had constipation problems, so my Doctor put me on a pill called Amitiza 24mcg. twice a day......It has helped me alot.

Glad they found the culprit on the pain.....

The only good thing about being constipated is that when you finally get cleaned out you loose that weight!   I'm glad they figured out what was going on!  Best of luck.

Loosing weight is always a good thing!  Yeah, I suppose all that "poo" I've been hanging onto hasn't been helping me in the weight loss dept.  LoL!

I have rock hard poo issues too when I don't have 3 or 4 prunes/day.  (I really like the Cherry Essence ones by SunSweet!)

As for the ovarian cysts?  I had something similar last summer - cramps that wouldn't go away, only I'd had a hystericalectomy 8 years ago.  My OB described them as "large, complex masses" when he called me with the results of my ultrasound.   One the size of a grapefruit, the others tangerines and and orange.

The downside?  Another surgery.

The upside?  Buh-Bye, nasty panni!!   Had to have a hernia repaired (as long as they were gonna open me up anyway...), and it just so happened to be Dr. Jones that was on the day my OB scheduled me!  So, God Bless Him, he made the flubber go away!  Said it really WAS medically necessary, to aid in wound healing (hard to heal up the OB's incision if it was buried under a fold of blubber, ya know?)  Not exactly a full blown tummy tuck, but WAY more than I ever even allowed myself to hope for!!

Did you get these cysts after having surgery, or did you have them pre-surgery?  I was talking with another friend that had WLS & she got ovarian cysts too (large ones), hers coming post-surgery.  She said she's heard of others having the same issue too.  I was just wondering if it something that happens more to us ladies post-op since our hormones are running wild for awhile there while we lose weight quickly.  I have had ovarian cysts pre-surgery though too, so for me I'm sure it's just something that will happen from time to time (but none quite this large or consistently painful).

What a wonderful upside to having to have that surgery though!
